Service Engineer Apprentice
Once you convert to day release on your apprenticeship you will be working with a Service Engineer to learn the role.  Covering a specific geographical area, you will assist with the diagnosis of faults on all aspects of fuel dispensing equipment including the pumps, gauges and point of sale equipment and performing preventative maintenance where possible (changing hose, belts, etc).
Please note that this type of permanent employment will require 24-hour cover so there will be some weekend work and night cover once you are fully qualified, but the financial rewards are very good - overtime payments and on-call payments. 
Selection Process:
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an Assessment Day at Prospects College in Basildon, Essex on Monday 28th April to undertake practical and team tasks.  Gilbarco representatives will be present to shortlist for company interviews to be held the following day at their Basildon premises on Tuesday 29th April.
To be considered for this role, you must be available for the following days:
Sunday 27th April – Arrival at hotel, Basildon.  Dinner provided
Monday 28th April - Assessment Day.  Lunch will be provided by Prospects College, breakfast and dinner at the hotel.
Tuesday 29th April – Interviews held at Gilbarco, Basildon.  Breakfast and dinner at the hotel.
Wednesday 30th April – Breakfast at hotel before travelling home
NB: Gilbarco will reimburse travel expenses up to a maximum of £41.90 - original receipts must be brought along to the Assessment Day.

Please note that due to the nature of the role applicants must be aged 18 or above.
The starting salary is £146 per week (eventually progressing to £24,000 per year on completion of the apprenticeship).


Training to be Provided

  • Block training at ATG Training centre in Aylesbury (Performing Engineering Operations NVQ Level 2)
  • Two years in employment to complete NVQ Level 3 in Maintenance Engineering with day release to ATG Training centre.
